Home 5 – Renovated Family Home, Moore Park, Toronto
This project is a perfect example of how to live well in a smaller home. This space is approximately 1600 sq.ft. it was in need of updating throughout and we used every square of inch of space that we uncovered!
The house had a generous mudroom entrance – but the doors to the closet were narrow and restrictive, we widened the closet to the full width of the room to make accessibility a breeze. On the main floor we opened up the staircase and added spindles and a stained handrail (originally there was a solid wall encasing both sets of stairs). We also opened up the entrance to the kitchen.
In the basement we transformed the laundry room – by using compact appliances and by customising the sink base cabinet we were able to make this tiny room into a little jewel. The basement shower was widened and a bench was added.
The storage was maximised in the upper hallway too, we added a full wall of closets where once there had only been a single linen closet.
