Company Philosophy

Gillian Gillies Interiors creates innovative design solutions for clients that are as unique as the homes they live in and the lives they lead.  We listen carefully to make sure your key needs are understood, and we design every space to look great and function exceptionally. Our clients are an integral part of the design process, and that’s why we believe in clear, timely communication on everything from project status to costs.

Our client contract is straightforward and concise; it details how we work, how we bill and it clarifies designer discounts and how they are shared. There is no guessing on your part.  We provide transparent financial reports throughout the process, so you’ll always know the total value of the project being managed by Gillian Gillies Interiors, and where your monies have been distributed.  Because of our principles, referrals are a large proportion of our business.

At every stage of the process we talk to our clients, suppliers and trades people to ensure that everyone is working together towards the same goals. This way, with detailed instructions and on-site implementation, our suppliers and trades can successfully transform our proposals into reality.

Client Testimonials

Extensive Renovation of Home, Moore Park, Toronto.
“Now that we have been back in the house for over a month we wanted to let you know just how much we are enjoying living here and how much we appreciate the amount of skill and effort it took on your part. As you know, we were pretty overwhelmed by the whole thought of going through a major renovation with the many decisions and problems that such a process entails, but your design experience and project management skills made what was for us the biggest renovation we’ve been through, by far the smoothest”.

Renovation & Decoration, Townhome, Summerhill, Toronto
“You were a pleasure to work with and I really appreciated how you took care of literally everything and how thoughtful you were.  As far as the completed design goes, I love it and (my new home) really does feel like it’s truly mine. You will be the person I get in touch with for any future project”.

Decoration, Condominium, North Toronto.
“We wanted to thank you very much for the work you did for us. From beginning to end, you handled everything in a very professional manner. We always felt informed as to what was going on and really appreciated the options you provided to us for our consideration. You carefully listened to what we wanted but still were able to give us direction when it was required. As an added plus you were always very considerate and mindful of our dog Simon which was hugely appreciated. Every time we walk into our bedroom, we comment on how beautiful it looks. We couldn’t be more pleased”

Extensive Renovation of Home, Rosedale, Toronto.
“The before, during and after photos are truly astonishing! I think I must have blocked most of the renovation out, and I really don’t remember the house ever looking like any of the before photos. So, thank you, if I haven’t said it enough all already”.

“We’re so pleased & comfortable in the new living space you have created for us. Our grandsons love the swivel chairs?! Thank you for all your good ideas and careful execution of them. We hope you will be able to continue working your magic for us in the future”

Decoration of New Home, Avenue & Lawrence, Toronto.
“In the normal hustle and bustle of everyday life as we’ve been getting the house done, I am sure that we have not said this explicitly enough.  Christine and I are absolutely delighted with the results.  You are a pleasure to work with.  From the outset you guided us along the way through all the various steps and decisions in a way which made us feel that we really own the results – design, pieces selected, and overall feel.  It reflects our tastes, but is frankly much better than we could ever have done on our own.  Without your expertise, we could not have made everything hang together.  You have always been transparent with respect to sourcing options and costs, and worked with us when certain items were more than we were prepared to pay without forcing any item or decision.  In these cases, you helped us find good alternatives to retain the artistic/design choice but save money.  You also made the sourcing easy.  You could find stuff quickly, bring us a manageable number of options (fabric swatches, pictures of coffee tables, etc.) and arrange production and delivery without any involvement from us.  You also dealt with the few quality problems we had by quickly resolving them with the supplier.  In terms of your fees, we feel that we received excellent value for the services you have provided.  We have never questioned any of your bills because they are well presented and always feel appropriate.  We find it helpful that the bills itemize your activities, costs and are delivered to us regularly.  Lastly, you are a nice person and a pleasure to deal with.  No ego and no attitude”.
