Let’s start at the very beginning….

I love the entrance foyer at Project Charlie – it’s large enough to accommodate a second dining space and it has a wood burning fireplace. This was where the love ended. The fireplace surround was nasty and we knew from early on it would have to be removed

So removed it was and that was where the fun began. Although it was and had always been wood burning it no longer met current day code requirements so the whole fireplace was re-built.

We incorporated a herringbone brick pattern in the fireplace.

The fireplace as seen from the dining room.

Almost there – the custom surround was built on site and painted the same colour as the trim throughout. The fireplace facing and hearth are in travertine noche – a gorgeous warm caramel stone that compliments the oak floorboards and the original oak ladder back pocket door. The walls have been painted barnboard by Benjamin Moore. The addition of the convex mirror really opens up the space. Now all we require are the wall sconces!
