Sourcing Success & Sneaky Peaks – October
I have to say that one of the many great things about being a designer is the whole sourcing process, sometimes you can come across the most random object / curiosity / collectible and from there can design an entire room / floor / home.
Here are a few things that have caught my eye this month that I am planning on / hoping to find a home for soon!
Firstly these incredible looking, Missoni inspired flat weave area carpets. They are custom designed in Toronto by Reznick Carpets available in a range of sizes and can even be ordered for a staircase runner. I adore the yellow one, actually I adore them both and am determined to find a home for these soon! Actually who am I kidding – I have homes for these – I just have to share the news with my clients.
Next on the must have list are these vintage pizza boards! I am using these as the starting point in a kitchen design scheme that we are currently working on. These to me are the starting point for the accessories in this space. We have a blank wall above the proposed kitchen banquette and I think a series of these will fit in perfectly with the decor on the main floor of this home. A chalkboard could even be inserted into one of the larger ones……making them functional as well as good to look at. These will tie in nicely to the vintage of the home and will make the transition between old and new easier.
Up next from my new favourite store Pimlico Gallery are these gorgeous baskets. I am always on the hunt for good baskets – as are many of my designer friends. A good basket is a hard thing to find sometimes. I love the broad selection Tanya has – all shapes and sizes and they are finished of with contrast trim on the top edge and handle.
Also from Pimlico Gallery these amazing French ‘stick’ Headdresses (my name / interpretation). I’ve shown them large so you can really see them. They are gorgeous!!! Fabulous on a staircase wall
So that is my finds for this month so far – quite an eclectic group I know but so are our projects and our client’s. I am constantly taking pictures so that I have an accessories data base at hand so that when I need to find something (every day) I have a general starting point.
Have a great weekend.
