The floors on the main floor of Project James are being sanded and stained so works in the early part of this week will be concentrated on the basement. The lux shower room with adjacent sauna will be tiled, much excitement there. But enough about this level – this post is about the main floor study and family room.

We opted to level of the back of the house, converting the mudroom into home office /study and adding a main floor family room. This is what we started with – the mudroom was accessible to the kitchen that was adjacent to the dining room.

We removed the wall between the living and dining room and levelled of the back of the house

Drywall complete

The study wall is where the old mudroom entrance used to be. We’ve drywalled over the arched pass- through and added built-ins to run the width of the wall. The cabinet doors are the same style – Shaker – as the kitchen so from the dining room it will all look in tune with one another.

Now for the crown moulding and the paint and then the hardware and the custom lighting from Lamp Cage can be installed. So looking forward to the big reveal!
