Gillies knew from a young age that she wanted to be an interior designer (rearranging furniture was an early hobby). Her signatures are custom millwork, bespoke lighting and textural area carpets, and she often travels to the U.S. and Europe in search of the perfect piece for a specific client. For one dining room renovation, she took a traditional space – rosewood table, silk draperies – and gave it a boost by using a bold geometric carpet and a lamp with an oversized black drum shade and a gold leaf interior.
